The Longest Zipline in ASIA (Xcelerator)

Wednesday, March 18, 2009

The Xcelerator is the longest, tallest, and fastest Zip Line in Asia. The zip line is estimated to be around one kilometer in length. It’s more than twice the 400-meter line of Camp Sabros. The Xcelerator is operated and managed by Outland Adventure.

The first time I went on a zipline was in Cagayan de Oro a year ago. It was pretty scary since you had to go through the canopy walk and it was a dizzying experience seeing below since it was just me and the trees and the caves about a hundred feet below. I thought that would be the first and last time I would go on a zipline.

Fast forward to 2009 when we unexpectedly got the chance to try The Longest zipline in Asia Xcelerator). The adventure was an out of this world experience since one had to cross the river (via a raft) and then do some trekking. It took me a long time to get to the platform since I had to take a lot of breaks. It was a totally satisfying experience (and more!).

Services:
Zipline per person: PhP300 (discounted when you go for a second round) Teambuilding

Zipping at the Xcelerator is a must for those adventurers who want to visit Davao City. The Xcelerator is open on weekends from 8am to 5pm. You can call their downtown office at 224-5855 for inquiries.

Location:
Diversion Road, Maa
Across from The GAP Farm

EMAIL:
outland _ adventure (at) hotmail DOT com

It’s an experience you must not miss in Davao City. The Xcelerator — experience some atmosFEAR!

Dolphin Island Resort - MOAP | Misamis Occidental

Sunday, February 8, 2009

The Dolphin Island Resort is located off the small island of the Municipality of Tudela, Misamis Occidental, Philippines. It is accessible by plane to Ozamiz City Airport, a short ride of motorcycle from the airport to the Bus Terminal (IBJT) and a 20-30 minutes bus ride to Brgy. Tigdok, Tudela. You can also reach MOAP - Dolphin Island via Dipolog City Airport then a 3-4 hours bus ride to the Municipality of Tudela, Misamis Occidental. You can also reach MOAP - Dolphin Island via Cagayan De Oro City Airport then a 3-4 hours bus ride and 30 minutes Fairy Boat to Ozamiz City. There are two airlines that fly to Cagayan de Oro City from Manila: Air Philippines and Cebu Pacific Airlines also at Dipolog City Airport. Manila to Ozamiz have only one airline: Air Philippines.

There are also a number of choices if one thinks about spending a day or planning an overnight in a resort where you can enjoy snorkeling or diving with other sea creatures and see the lovely coral reefs at the Dolphin Island in the Misamis Occidental Aquamarine Park. There’s also a mini zoo in the mangrove jungle. It’s really good and worth to pay a visit to this quiet, unexplored paradise in the south. Convenient and elegant accommodation is not a problem at all.

Canopy Walk | White Water Rafting

Saturday, January 31, 2009

Canopy Walk: Soaring High - Macahambus Gorge, a 120-foot circular ravine. The steep staircase is an adventure in itself. It is worth the trip however to explore this hole in the earth replete with various species of plants and huge trees. While it is a dead cave, the Macahambus Cave is also worth paying a visit for its historical significance. It was the site of the only battle won by the Filipinos during the early days of the American occupation in the early 1900s.

When you're done exploring the land and what's under it, it's time to give tribute to the sky and the water.

WHITE WATER RAFTING – there really is nothing quite like rafting trip on Cagayan de Oro River. The stretch from Barangay Dansolihon to the city provides you with strikingly beautiful panoramic view of the river rocky walls, untouched vegetation and the sight of the resting haven of monkeys.

It has breathtaking rapids that provides the more adventurous with thrills and challenges of rapids intervals not less than 10 – 15 minutes of each other. Cagayan de Oro river has everything that makes for a memorable experience with awesome roar and power of water cascading over rocks and boulders.

Seagull Mountain Resort

Saturday, January 24, 2009

Seagull Mountain Resort near the border of Bukidnon from Davao City is one of my favorite places.

One of the places to getaway and refresh is anywhere up in the Bukidnon area. It is up in the mountains where the weather is cool, and there are so many beautiful flowers adorning the grounds.

Seagull Mountain resort is not quite in Bukidnon, but if you travel on the Buda Highway from Davao, it is within 1 Km of the Davao/Bukidnon border. In the picture you see the swimming pool at Seagull Mountain Resort. They offer rooms for overnight stays too. They also have hiking trails, just about anything having to do with nature can be found in the area.

Travel Question

Wednesday, January 21, 2009

I have a question for all you searchers out there, whether you consider yourself to be a budget traveller, an alternative tourist?

I would like to know your opinions on the following:

Q: Do you think there is a certain status among travellers, with perhaps the more experienced having more respect than the less experienced, or is everyone equal in the world of travel?

I would genuinely like to know all your opinions on this, whether you agree or disagree. All feedback on this subject will be greatly appreciated!

I thank you for your time, and wish your travel is safe and enjoyable, whatever journey you are on.

Canibad,Samal Island Philippines

Friday, January 9, 2009

Canibad Beach Resort used to be a quiet secret down Barangay Aundanao on Samal Island, located on the other side of the isle facing Davao Oriental. Now it seems to be everybody's open secret because during the weekend, the shores were packed with people!

Canibad is a quiet, secluded, undiscovered hideaway on the other side of Samal frequented only by foreigners and locals.

This hidden cove (which takes an hour's to travel but scenic trip from the Igacos pier, then a little long exercise walk down a trail) is ideally placed where white sands meet crystal clear emerald waters.

You pay P15 per head for the entrance, unless you are planning to stay overnight, then you can rent one of the cottages (around P100 and up) and wait for the amazing sunrise in the morning.

Make sure to bring your cameras along so as not to miss anything. With my buddy, we ended up with a fun pictorial that is worth the uphill and downhill trek to a hidden paradise. I just can't wait to go back again.
